Having previously come to us for their bathrooms, the clients returned to have their kitchen designed and fitted in their new extension. Initially they were thinking along the lines of a traditional look, but then they saw one of our kitchens on our website and really liked the design and contemporary look of it. ‘I fell in love with the island, and I couldn’t find that particular sort of design elsewhere’, comments the client. ‘I had no idea what handless units were and I like the clean lines and the neutrality they give’.
A stunning Bauformat kitchen with the island finish in the textured wood of the Bali door, which contrasts with the warm, neutral tones of the rest of the kitchen units which are in Sand Beige. Special touches include the illuminated recessed shelf space in the middle of the wall units and the plinth lights. A breakfast bar runs along the length of the island in Marron Brown providing seating space for three stools. The extractor fan is cunningly seated in part of the ceiling constructed to hide a supporting steel, and the extra wide Caple induction hob regularly has its ability to instantly cool down tested by one of the client’s cats, who has perfected an athletic leap from the sink unit onto onto the island, touching paws on the hob. Built into the island are wide pan drawers with inset cutlery drawers and the kitchen has Caple appliances throughout including two single oven, a built-in microwave and grill, and integrated dishwasher, larder fridge and fridge freezer. Extra cupboards in sand beige provide additional storage and shelving along the wall adjacent to the entrance to the kitchen, and the light colour of the Unistone Bianco worktops contrasts beautifully with the 45 x 45mm Terma Brown floor tiles.
‘I love the textured effect of the wood and how the kitchen is darker at lower levels and lighter at the work surface level. The kitchen is modern, stylish and practical and of all the kitchen designers we spoke to we felt that Hayley was most on our wavelength and understood what we were looking for’.
