Avon Dassett – period village home

The Brief
The clients wanted to remove a couple of walls in the existing kitchen of their period village home to create a open plan space. Part of this was to become a dining area with a farmhouse table, and the rest a spacious kitchen with a sizeable island and ample storage/cupboard space for a large family.

The Result
A stunning Stoneham Penshurst primed kitchen which was then handpainted.

The curved cornered island unit contains a large pull-out pan/crockery drawers, a cutlery drawer and several different combinations of wire pull-outs and a Miele microwave oven. The island was topped with a 40mm solid oak worksurface from Spekva with a seating area created at one corner.

The run of units along the back wall incorporates an existing Aga, above which the clients wanted a traditional mantlepiece with shelving units. Next to the Aga is a Miele induction hob with a Miele oven below. A Wine Chiller was always part of the plan, and an integrated Duel Zone wine chiller from Caple did the job of housing both red and white wine at the correct temperature. A Belfast sink and a worktop of Diresco Quartz with a textured finish completes the look.

A run of three tall, painted cupboard units houses a Miele tall fridge unit, with a separate Miele freezer unit next to it, with shelving above. The remaining tall cupboard contains internal pull-outs.

Traditional tiles from Marlborough were set behind the Aga, with the rest of the walls painted. The floor was tiled with Tulliers limestone in random sizes.

The Feedback
‘Initially we felt quite daunted by the fact that it was going to be such a big job, involving lots of difficult and expensive decisions. However Mark made the process so easy. We didn’t get stressed, the fitting process went like a dream and we are so happy with the final result. The kitchen looks gorgeous and is working magnificently for us as a family, even the dogs have found their spot! We would not hesitate to recommend Mark and his team. Please use us as a reference’.
